We are excited to announce that we will be opening Centre-based services in September, 2018. Our Centre will be located at 1320 Cornwall Road, Oakville to better serve the surrounding communities. Please contact us for information regarding enrollment.
Skill-based assessments are completed to determine appropriate services for each individual. Comphrensive program plans are then created to address each of the individual’s strengths and weaknesses. Regular ongoing assessment of skills and behaviours is completed. Data is collected and interpreted on a regular basis. Parent training is a core feature of our service.
Behavioural support services are available to individuals who display challenging behaviours. Eliminating malapative behaviours often improves the likelihood of more functional skill acquistion. Prior to the design of individualized behaviour support plans, individualized behavioural assessments are completed in order to determine the circumstances under which maladaptive behaviours are presented and maintained. Interviews, behavioural observations, data collection, standardized tesing, and meetings with various team members (including family, school personnel, other support services/agencies) are completed as part of the behavioural assessment process. Recommendations and an individualized behavioural support plan will follow the outcome of the assessment. Parent and staff training are encouraged to ensure proper implementation of the behavioural plan. Ongoing data collection will be necessary in order to monitor progress.
Home Based Intensive Behavioural Intervention (IBI):
Autism Behaviour Habilitation Services (ABHS) will work with families to determine the appropriate service model for them. ABHS provides highly skilled senior (BCBA) and instructor (BCaBA/RBT) therapists. Supervising therapists are responsible for designing and monitoring the programs and services. Instructor therapists are responsible for implementing the programs and services outlined. Our senior therapists also spend time working directly with individuals and their families. Dr. Bruce Linder, C.Psych, BCBA-D oversees all clinical services provided to each family.
At ABHS, we recognize that some families are already working with instructor therapists and that the instructor therapists involved have a strong understanding of the individual’s needs and strengths. As such, ABHS is happy to modify its service model to only include services of the senior therapist and clinical supervisor. However, staff training is available to all instructor therapists who were not originally trained by ABHS in order to ensure smooth delivery of all services.
